1. What is the purpose of the high school tennis program?

The high school tennis program is dedicated to developing students' tennis skills, promoting teamwork and sportsmanship, and providing a competitive platform for student-athletes. Through comprehensive training, regular practice sessions, and participation in matches and tournaments, we strive to help players reach their full potential. Our goal is to compete at the highest level while proudly representing our school and community. We are committed to fostering a positive and supportive environment where students can grow both as athletes and individuals.

2. Who can join the tennis team?
The tennis team is open to all high school students, regardless of skill level. We encourage anyone interested in the sport to try out, as we have opportunities for both beginners and advanced players.

3. How are team members selected?
Team members are selected based on a tryout process that evaluates skills, athleticism, and potential. Tryouts typically include drills, match play, and assessments of fundamental techniques.

4. What is the commitment level required?
Participation in the tennis program requires a commitment to regular practices, matches, and team events. Practices are held after school, and matches are scheduled throughout the season. Attendance and punctuality are important for team cohesion and individual development.

5. Do I need to have prior tennis experience to join?
No prior experience is necessary to join the team. We welcome players of all skill levels and provide coaching to help everyone improve, from beginners to advanced athletes.

6. What equipment do I need to participate?
Players should have a tennis racket, appropriate athletic clothing, and tennis shoes. The school provides tennis balls and access to the courts. If you need assistance with equipment, please let the coach know.

7. Are there any fees associated with the tennis program?
There may be a nominal fee to cover the cost of equipment, uniforms, and travel expenses for matches and tournaments. We strive to keep costs affordable and provide support for those who need financial assistance.

8. How can I stay informed about practice schedules, matches, and other events?
We communicate with team members and parents through REMIND APP. Regular updates will include practice schedules, match dates, and any other important information.

9. What are the expectations for student-athletes on the team?
We expect student-athletes to demonstrate good sportsmanship, respect for teammates and opponents, and a commitment to their academic responsibilities. Maintaining a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and improve are also key expectations.

10. How can parents get involved?
Parents are encouraged to support the team by attending matches and volunteering for various roles, such as organizing events, providing transportation, or helping with fundraising efforts. Your involvement is greatly appreciated!

11. Who can I contact for more information?
For more information, please contact Coach John Armstrong Jarmstrong@dickinsonisd.org, or Coach Eddie Farias at efarias@dickinsonisd.edu email address.  We look forward to welcoming you to the team!
