Parents and employees can begin planning for the next school year with the 2023-2024 school calendar approved by the Board of Trustees at the February 6 meeting.
 
The start of the 2023-2024 school year will be full of changes as the district opens Dickinson Junior High and implements the realignment of grade levels with PreK-3rd grade in elementary, grades 4-5 in middle school, and grades 6-8 in junior high.
 
The district will be continuing with Transition Day, which was first implemented last school year, on the day prior to the first day of school to help students adjusting to a new set of grade levels. Because of the realignment of schools, the 2023-2024 Transition Day will be open to students entering pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 9th grade students. On Monday, August 21, students in these grades levels are invited to attend school a day earlier than other students to participate in special activities to help them adjust to attending a new campus.
 
The first day of school for all students for the 2023-2024 school year is Tuesday, August 22, 2023.
