Gator Induction Program
Guiding All Teachers On the Road to Success

First Year Teachers
New teachers to the profession are supported in numerous ways by district and campus personnel, as well as district-wide initiatives during their first year of teaching.

Induction Program support activities include:

First Year Teacher Academy -  A three-day academy providing instruction for the  protégé teachers one day before schools begins, followed by one day each semester throughout the  protégé's first year of teaching.  Topics for the First Year Teacher Academy include:  Becoming an Effective Teacher; Getting Ready for the First  Days of School; Managing the Classroom Effectively; Becoming a Professional Educator; Working with Parents and Families; Maintaining Stress; Working with a Mentor; and Teaching for Learning for All.

Campus Mentor Program -  An integral part of the Gator Induction Program is to provide each protégé teacher with a campus mentor, who is selected by the campus principal to serve as on-site guides.  Mentor support includes:  discussion of school routines, schedules and policies; locating resources and materials; sharing discipline and classroom management techniques; offering curriculum and lesson plan support; assisting with instructional strategies; observing and providing feedback; and understanding campus culture.

New to the District Orientation - Prior to the beginning of the school year all teachers who are new to the district attend a two-day orientation session.  New employees are introduced to district personnel and provided with information on the following topics:  First Year Expectations; District Benefits; District Curriculum/Lesson Plans; Rigor, Relevance and Relationships; and Technology.

Campus Training - Campus administrators provide necessary training for protégé teachers regarding campus procedures, programs, policies and initiatives.
