Secondary Service Design (6-12)
Gifted students in grades 9-12 are served in Honors and AP classes in English, math, social sciences, science, art, music and foreign language by teachers who are specially trained to support gifted learners and advanced academics. Additionally, acceleration opportunities are provided through Dual Credit courses and through Collegiate High School in collaboration with College of the Mainland.
Students in grades 6-8 are also served through Honors courses in the four core classes. In addition, opportunities for enrichment in technology, academics, the arts and with acceleration are also available in grades 7-12. Students may also earn high school credit for their work in grade 7-8 with select advanced courses.
ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIESIn addition to Advanced Academic Courses or GT services, students in DISD are provided many opportunities to develop their talents and interests both within and outside of the school day to pursue their interests and expand their learning:
