  • Grade Levels: 10th - 12th grade in 2026-2027 (with planned expansion in future years)

     

    Students who meet all of the following criteria will be considered for enrollment:

     

    • Earned the required credits needed to move forward with their class and graduate on time

    Credits Completed Prior to August 2026
    Tenth 6 or more
    Eleventh 12 or more
    Twelfth 19 or more
    • Met the standard (approaches or higher) on all previous End-of-Course (EOC) assessments attempted

    • Demonstrated appropriate conduct with no significant disciplinary concerns

    • Maintained 90% or higher attendance during the 2025-26 school year

    • Earned credit for all courses attempted the previous semester and are passing all current courses with a 70 or higher

    • Seniors Only: Met at least one indicator for College, Career or Military Readiness (CCMR)

       

    Significant absences due to medical circumstances will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

  • The Dickinson ISD Virtual Program allows students to learn on a flexible schedule while receiving guidance, support, and monitoring from a certified teacher.

     

    Student Expectations:

    • Learn through engaging teacher-provided lessons, videos, readings, and assignments
    • Participate in live virtual sessions in some courses
    • Work on coursework on their own schedule while meeting set deadlines
    • Receive regular feedback from their teacher
    • Ask for help through teacher office hours, tutoring, or 1:1 conferences

    Teacher Expectations:

    • Implement and customize district-provided curriculum to meet TEKS requirements
    • Facilitate live virtual sessions as needed
    • Monitor student engagement and progress
    • Provide regular feedback to students for ongoing support
    • Offer virtual and in-person tutorials

  • Attendance is taken daily based on student engagement in instruction between 12:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m., through one or more of the following:

     

    • Making daily progress by accessing instruction in the learning management system; OR
    • Participating in teacher-student interactions, including live virtual sessions; OR
    • Submitting assigned coursework

  • To meet Texas graduation requirements, all high school students (including full-time virtual students) must achieve Approaches Grade Level or higher on five EOC assessments:

    8th or 9th Grade 10th Grade
    Algebra 1 English 2
    English 1 10th or 11th Grade
    Biology U.S. History

  • Yes. Students are required to attend in person for designated activities and assessments, including:

     

    • Chromebook pick-up and orientation
    • End-of-Course (EOC) exams
    • College entrance exams (PSAT, SAT, and TSIA2)
    • Advanced Placement (AP) exams
    • Semester exams and final exams
    • Some level 3 or 4 CTE classes, such as practicum courses, may require participation in off campus internships

     

    Advance notice of all required in-person testing dates will be provided.

     

    The student/parent/guardian will be responsible for all transportation.

  • Endorsement availability for the 2026–2027 school year will depend on your student’s grade level and the credits they have already earned. Students may pursue one or more of the endorsements listed below virtually.

     

    Students will meet with a counselor during course selection to ensure they are on the right pathway and on track for graduation.

  • Students living outside of the Dickinson ISD school zone can apply for the Dickinson ISD Virtual Program by completing the steps below:


    Step 1: Complete the virtual program application
    Step 2: Complete the Transfer Request Form when it becomes available (March 2nd)


    Final acceptance into the Virtual Program is dependent upon approval of the Transfer Request.

     

    Transfer decisions are based on attendance, behavior, and academic history.

  • All virtual program classes will be taught by certified Dickinson ISD teachers who have completed required training in virtual instruction.

    • Students will receive a district-issued chromebook.
    • Students must have reliable internet access at home.

  • Students must remain in their chosen learning environment for the full semester. Changes can only be made at the beginning of a new semester with guidance from the student’s assigned counselor.

  • Parents serve in a supportive role while students maintain primary responsibility for their learning.

    Parents are expected to:

    • Encourage regular attendance and participation
    • Support organization and time management
    • Monitor grades and progress through the parent portal
    • Communicate with teachers and school staff as needed

  • Available supports include:

     

    • Virtual teacher office hours
    • Optional in-person tutorials
    • Access to an administrator and counselor for academic and social-emotional support

  • Students will receive instruction through a district-purchased, rigorous, TEKS-aligned curriculum delivered by teachers via an online learning platform. The curriculum follows the same order in which content is taught in the district’s in-person courses.

     

    Virtual students must meet the same graduation requirements and earn the same diploma as in-person students.

  • The virtual program follows the same schedule and pacing as in-person classes. Students will take a full schedule of seven courses. Each course is teacher-paced with weekly deadlines and designed to be completed by the end of the semester, just like on-campus courses.

  • Yes. Students enrolled in the Dickinson ISD virtual program who reside within the Dickinson ISD school zone may participate in any UIL-sponsored extracurricular activity at Dickinson High School.


    Students who do not reside in the Dickinson ISD school zone may not participate in any UIL-sponsored activities according to UIL guidelines.


    Virtual program students must complete all required participation steps, including tryouts (if applicable), attend regularly scheduled classes, practices, rehearsals, contests, games, and performances in person.


    Transportation: Students/families are responsible for transportation to and from campus for classes, practices, and rehearsals. For off-campus events, students are responsible for getting to campus to travel with the team/group unless other arrangements are communicated by the sponsor/coach.


    Currently, Dickinson High School offers the following UIL-sponsored activities and competitive events:
