Mrs. Laurel Powell
This is Mrs. Powell’s 24th year teaching at DHS. Throughout her teaching career she has taught Theatre Arts 1-4, Theatre Production 1-4, Technical Theatre, and the Special Programs Theatre class. As well as teaching, Mrs. Powell has directed a variety of shows including numerous award winning One Act Plays that have been seen at the 4A, 5A, and 6A UIL Area and Region Level. As well as directing UIL One Act Play, she is also the UIL Prose and Poetry coach. In 2009-2010, she was named DISD Secondary Teacher of the Year, representing Dickinson at the Region IV level. She is involved with International Thespian Society, TETA, Alpha Psi Omega, Phi Mu and Southwest Theatre Association. She holds a BA from Lyon College and a MA from the University of Houston. As well as teaching, Mrs. Powell can be seen on stage & directing in area Houston and Galveston Theatres where she also performs. Remember “Make Magic!” Mrs. Powell's pride outside of school is her two amazing and talented children!

Mrs. Marisa Hataway
This is Mrs. Hataway’s 17th year teaching Theatre Arts. Before teaching at DHS, she was a 5th-6th grade Theatre Arts teacher at Barber Middle School. Along with teaching middle school theatre, she has directed numerous 30 minute plays. Mrs. Hataway now teaches the Theatre Arts 1 classes, a Theatre Arts 2 class, a Technical Theatre class, the Theatre Production MENTOR class & the Musical Theatre class at DHS. Mrs. Hataway has been active with the DHS Theatre Department since she was in high school. Graduating from Dickinson, she served as the President, Vice-President, and Treasurer of the drama department. For the past eleven years, Mrs. Hataway has been the resident photographer for the department taking headshots, show shots, and publicity shots. She is a member of The International Thespian Society, TETA, Phi Mu and she served on the Campus Improvement Committee at Barber Middle School from 2006-2010. She holds a BA from Lyon College in Batesville, AR. Mrs. Hataway is married and has boy/girl twins. They will be a five years old in November!

This is Mrs. Coleman’s 10th year of teaching, and third year at Dickinson HS. Prior to becoming a Dickinson Gator, she taught Technical Theatre at Ball High School in Galveston. Mrs. Coleman also taught theatre at the Jr. High level at the beginning of her career in Alvin ISD. Throughout her teaching career she has been the Technical Director of numerous plays and all-district musicals, as well as the director of several One Act Plays and musicals. Mrs. Coleman is a proud graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned her BFA in Theatre Studies in 2013. Outside of teaching theatre she is also a licensed skydiver, USPA coach, and a State Skydiving Record holder. When she is not in the theatre, Mrs. Coleman enjoys spending her free weekends jumping out of perfectly good airplanes. Mrs. Coleman recently got married and they are the proud fur parents to 3 adorable pups!
