Dickinson Independent School District has been recognized by the Texas Educational Theatre Association (TxETA) for its outstanding commitment to theatre education, earning the Exemplary District designation in the 2026 Award of Distinction Program. In addition, McAdams Junior High School and Kranz Junior High School were each recognized as Exemplary Middle Schools.
The TxETA Award of Distinction recognizes schools and districts that make exceptional contributions to advancing theatre education through achievement, advocacy, diversity, and access to quality theatre programs. The award highlights organizations that demonstrate a strong commitment to fostering student participation and excellence in the performing arts.
Schools and districts earning this recognition submit a comprehensive application showcasing their theatre programs in several areas, including:
- Quality and quantity of theatrical productions
- Student participation in University Interscholastic League (UIL) competitions
- Access to theatre resources and performance spaces
- Community and administrative support
- Theatre technology and design opportunities
- Student engagement in theatrical design and production
The Exemplary designation is the highest level of recognition awarded through the program.
Dickinson ISD, McAdams Junior High, and Kranz Junior High will be formally recognized during the Texas Educational Theatre Association Awards Ceremony at TheatreFest 2026, which will be held October 2 at Moody Gardens in Galveston.
