Dickinson ISD is proud to announce a first-of-its-kind partnership with Sam Houston State University and SamPoly, making Dickinson ISD the first K-12 school district in Texas to offer high school students a direct pathway into Cybersecurity and Computer Information Systems while still in high school.
Through this innovative partnership, Dickinson ISD students will have the opportunity to earn dual college credit, complete coursework in Cybersecurity and Computer Information Systems, and work toward a Level 1 Computer Support Specialist Certificate. Students will also be able to prepare for industry-recognized certifications, including CompTIA A+, Network+ and Security+.
The pathway is designed to help students graduate with workforce-ready technology skills that can lead to high-demand careers such as cybersecurity analyst, IT support specialist, network security technician, cloud and systems support specialist, computer network administrator, and help desk or technical support specialist.
Many of the college credits earned through this pathway are stackable toward associate and bachelor’s degree programs, creating a seamless opportunity for Dickinson ISD students to continue their education with Sam Houston State University in high-demand technology and cybersecurity fields.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to preparing students for the future workforce and creating real opportunities for success after graduation,” said Dr. Rebecca Brown.
Dickinson ISD continues to lead the way in expanding innovative Career and Technical Education and dual credit opportunities that connect students directly to high-demand, high-wage careers across Texas and beyond.
