Dickinson ISD - Buildings & Facilities Use Procedures

1. District buildings, grounds, and/or facilities shall be made available to persons and/or organizations within the District, provided such use does not interfere with the normal operation of the schools and school activities.  The applicant/organization must reside within the boundaries of the District. The use of school facilities for private gain shall not be permitted. The Board intends that the use of facilities by the public shall be for educational, civic, or charitable purposes.

2. All requests shall be initiated through the business ancillary services office at the Dickinson ISD Administration Building, P. O Drawer Z, Dickinson, Tx. 77539.  The Group/Organization requesting use of District Buildings/Facilities must complete the Buildings & Facilities Usage Application Form and mail to the address shown above. There is a Facility Rental Fee Schedule available for your review prior to filling out the application.

3. The building use request form must be received no later than 10 days before the meeting date requested. All building/facilities usage must have a written contract agreement approved by Dickinson ISD before the usage occurs. 

4. Individuals and organizations shall be charged for the use of District facilities according to the District’s Board Policy(GKD-Local). A copy of this Board Policy is available upon request. Examples of fees charged are custodial services outside normal school operating hours, energy use(electricity), and cost of supervisory school personnel or security officers, if required.

5. The group/organization shall be responsible for all damages and/or loss to District buildings and equipment.  Individuals and/or organizations using school facilities shall provide a Certificate of Liability Insurance naming Dickinson ISD as an additional insured while using District facilities.  The amount of liability insurance must be a minimum of $1Million for personal injury and not less than $100,000.00 for property damage per accident for the term of the rental/usage contract.

6. Facilities User shall, at Facilities User’s own expense, comply with all laws, orders, and requirements of all governmental entities with reference to the use and occupancy of the Premises.  Facilities User shall permit no mechanic’s liens of any kind to be filed against the      Facilities/Premises, except with the express written permission of Dickinson ISD.

7. The Facilities/Premises, or any part thereof, shall not be used (a) in the operation of, or in conjunction with, any school or other institution of learning which discriminate against any person because of his or her race, color, national origin, or gender, regardless of whether such discrimination be effected by design or otherwise or (b) in the operation of or in conjunction with, any school or other institution of learning which creates, maintains, reinforces, renews, or encourages, or which tends to create, maintain, or encourage a dual school system. Any violation of this provision will without further action result in an automatic termination of Facilities User’s rights with respect to the use of Facilities/Premises.
