Technology Department







The Dickinson ISD Technology Department is comprised of a team who provides a range of services that include Instructional Technology, Computer/Network Support, Student Record Information Support, and Administrative Support.

In addition, staff development to enhance the educational curriculum is provided. The instructional team is dedicated to work with teachers to provide our students with the opportunities to use technology resources to reach their full potential and add quality throughout their lives.
 
Technology Department Staff

Dr. Melissa Williams-Scott
Executive Director of Information Systems


Dr. Melissa Williams-Scott has been in education for 25 years, more than 15 of those in Dickinson ISD. Her career has included time as a paraprofessional in a classroom for students with disabilities, 6 years as a classroom teacher and more than 10 years as a campus administrator before moving to the Technology Department. While technology is critical to the day-to day-functioning of the district and can be highly effective in increasing engagement during instruction; Melissa believes disconnecting from technology is just as important. At the end of the day our job is to ensure that students leave Dickinson ISD as critical thinkers, lifelong learners, and citizens of good character.

Minerva Medina
Secretary to the Executive Director of Information Systems





Minerva Medina joined DISD in 2015. She worked at BMS and DHS before joining the Technology team. She is excited to begin this new journey and learn new things in the process.  In her spare time, she loves spending time with my family, camping and riding her bike.

 

Brent Alleyn
PC Support Specialist
Campuses: LES & LMS

Brent Alleyn came to DISD from Clear Creek ISD in 2016.  He has been in the IT field for over 15 years.  Brent covers the Lobit Education Village.  He enjoys working in education, providing support for the staff and students.

Charlotte Barkmann
IP Phone Specialist & Instructional Technology Support

Charlotte Barkmann is the IP Phone Specialist and Instructional Technology Support Person. She is a lifetime resident of Dickinson, member of DHS Class ’82.  She started out her career as a PC Technician for 11 years at Johnson Space Center, and then moved to Education with a 2 years at CCISD, and then on to DISD Technology Department in 2001. She raised all of her children in Dickinson: John (Class ’04), Katy (Class ’09), Charles (Class ’12). She is always quick to tell you that it takes a Village to Raise a Child and that DISD provided many angels that helped her raise her own into successful adults. Never hesitate to contact her and you will find that she is always glad to help you with your Technology need.

LeRoy Bobbitt
Infrastructure Manager

LeRoy Bobbitt, III is the Infrastructure Manager for Dickinson ISD. His m ain work objectives are to manage and maintain all district electronic security systems and structured cabling.

Stacey Griffin
Help Desk Specialist

Stacey Griffin came to Dickinson ISD from Pasadena ISD in September 2011 as a secretary in Educational Services.   In September 2012, she joined the Technology Department as the Helpdesk Specialist. In January 2015, Stacey became the PC Support Specialist assigned to Calder, Hughes, Silbernagel, and Bay Colony Elementary Schools.

Travis Hazzard
PC Support Specialist
Campuses: MJH, KEL, DMS, SLE

Travis Hazzard started working in Dickinson ISD in January 2010.  He is a PC Support Specialist and is assigned to McAdams, K. E. Little, Dunbar, and San Leon. Travis and his wife are high school sweethearts and married in December of 2009. They have a son who was born September 2012. When he is not helping our staff, teachers and students with technology, Travis enjoys spending time on the golf course, serving in his church and spending time with his family.

Jonathan Hysquierdo
Network Specialist

Jonathan Hysquierdo came to Dickinson ISD from Pasadena ISD in October 2012.  He is a Network Specialist for the district. Jonathan chose to work in education because just like our students, technology is the future. It gives him great pride to provide the necessary learning equipment and support to our future leaders here at D.I.S.D.

Caroline Lightfoot
Curriculum & Instruction Applications Manager

Caroline Lightfoot joined Dickinson ISD's Technology Department in 2011. She began her career in Education as a Junior High and High School English Teacher. She also worked as an Instructional Specialist for an Educational Software Company. She supports teachers' instructional needs through innovative classroom practices. Caroline holds B. A. degrees in Humanities and Literature and a M. Ed. with a focus in Instructional Technology and Leadership. 

Chuck Morris
Senior Systems Manager

Chuck Morris has been working with the district now for over 10 years, having started as a contractor in 2007 he is now a permanent member of the Dickinson ISD staff as the Sr. Systems Manager. His responsibilities include working with all of the database systems within the district as well as Skyward, Finance Plus, Transportation and FNS systems. Chuck graduated from Loyola College of Baltimore, Maryland in 1987 with a BS in Computer Science and worked for almost 20 years as a computer programmer and designer in the commercial industries of document imaging and oil & gas modeling.

Coy Powers
Technology Services Manager

Coy Powers started with DISD in 2002 as one of 2 PC Technicians. As the district grew, it became necessary to expand the department as well. So he was promoted to Help Desk Manager and then Project Lead. Coy's position has since evolved into Technology Services Manager. His position is primarily oversight of the daily operations of the Help Desk and the Campus Technicians, which now number 5. He continues to manage many other aspects of technology including  VBrick and the marquee signs throughout the district. Coy plans to continue to work at this great district until retirement.

Jimmy Pridgeon 
PC Support Specialist
Campuses: CRE, BCE, HRE, JSE, ESC and GTA
Jimmy Pridgeon came to Dickinson ISD in August of 2018 with 13 years of experience in IT. He worked a couple of years for Angelina County in Lufkin, Texas before moving to Memorial Hospital for another couple of years. He then hired on with Lufkin ISD for nine years before moving to Dickinson ISD. "Working in education is rewarding in knowing that what I do can help make an impact on young people's lives."

Jennifer Rushing
Technology Integration Specialist

Jennifer Rushing has been in education for over 15 years. She taught Special Education,  4th grade  regular education, and technology  app. She has a love for teaching and molding young minds as well as a passion for technology. She believes that by blending the two, we can accomplish great things here in Dickinson ISD. Jennifer assigned to all elementary campuses. Jennifer's number one job is to support you and your classroom digitally.

Mike Sanchez
Network Engineer

Michael Sanchez is currently the Network Engineer for the district. He is responsible for campus network connectivity, district server infrastructure, and internet traffic. Michael has 14 years of experience working in the technology field. He has worked in education for 10 years in local school districts. Prior to working in education, Michael was a network engineer for an IT support company. Michael graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor's in Organizational Leadership and Supervision.

Larry Smith
PC Support Specialist
Campuses: DHS, BMS

Larry Smith has worked in Technology for over 15 years, 13 of those years in Education.  He has worked for Alvin ISD, Clear Creek ISD, and Dickinson ISD.  LOne of the benefits of working in IT in education is the time he can spend with his son.

Claudia Valastro 
Technology Integration Specialist
Campuses: MJH, BMS, DMS, LMS

Claudia Valastro joined DISD in 2016 and has been in education for more than 30 years with 19 in the classroom teaching technology and business courses at the college, high school, middle school, and elementary school levels. In addition, she has been an instructional technologist for the last 13 years, as well as a district-level Instructional Technology Coordinator. She has worked at various school districts in technology education and has done consulting for independent school districts and Education Service Center V. Prior to working in education, Claudia was an administrative assistant. She holds a MBA, and has a CAP designation.

The mission of the Dickinson Independent School District is to ensure that all students have safe and successful learning opportunities that help them reach their full potential and add quality throughout their lives.
