Welcome to the Dickinson Independent School District (DISD) website. This site is intended to provide parents, students, community members, and employees with information about all aspects of our school district. DISD is excited to have been named a Texas Education Agency Recognized District, and we salute the efforts of our students, teachers, administrators, support personnel, and parents who all played an important part in achieving this rating. Because we know that education does not occur in isolation, we strive to maintain a strong partnership with parents and community members.
Located in the northern section of Galveston County, DISD serves approximately 9,700 students on eleven campuses: Dickinson High School, Dickinson Continuation Center, McAdams Junior High, Barber Middle School, Dunbar Middle School, Bay Colony Elementary, Calder Road Elementary, Hughes Road Elementary, Little Elementary, San Leon Elementary, and Silbernagel Elementary. On all campuses, the needs of a diverse student population are met through a strong, well-aligned curriculum and dedicated teachers and support personnel. We believe that the key to our success in DISD is the strength of our people who are committed to the success of all students.
Community support for DISD is evidenced in the passage of three facility bond issues over the past few years. Since 1995, the district has constructed four new elementary schools, two new middle schools, a new junior high campus, completed extensive renovations to the high school and continuation center, and built new athletic facilities as well as a new administration building and transportation center. Our community has been extremely generous in providing facilities that create an optimal learning environment for our students.
Please use the information provided in this website to become familiar with our school district and campuses. We are proud of the many accomplishments of our students and staff members.
Sincerely,
Vicki Mims
Superintendent
