School Bond Issues

Dickinson ISD voters approved a $47.4 million dollar bond issue May 1, 1999 to accommodate a projected enrollment of over 7,000 students by the year 2005. Every school and every student in DISD have benefited from the facility and technology bond issue.

The 1999 Bond money was used to:

  • Construct Bay Colony Elementary School, K. E. Little Elementary School and Dunbar Middle School
  • Renovate and make additions to Hughes Road Elementary and Silbernagel Elementary Schools
  • Renovate Barber Middle School to accommodate 5th grade students • Additions and renovations to Dickinson High School

In May, 2005 voters approved an $85 million bond issue in two propositions. The first proposition called for $72, million to be used to construct a new elementary school, a new 5-6 campus, a new junior high school, a new agricultural science facility, a new transportation facility and to purchase buses, repair and upgrades to existing facilities, and to purchase property for future school sites. Proposition two called for $13 million to be used to construct a new stadium. This facility will be build at the high school campus just north of the current field house and track.
