Dickinson ISD will join districts throughout the greater Houston/Galveston County area and extend the suspension of normal district operations through Friday, April 10 in an effort to support the nation's need to flatten the curve on the COVID-19 pandemic. The Houston area continues to see an increasing number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 and health officials report that this number is expected to continue to increase as more testing is made available.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has outlined the need for all communities to implement a social distancing protocol. The President has publicly shared that communities should not gather in groups larger than 10 people. This is an unprecedented situation, and DISD will continue to closely monitor the situation and communicate frequently with you.
Please continue to monitor the District's website (www.dickinsonisd.org) and social media resources for information on plans to deliver instruction. Our administrators and curriculum support staff are working quickly to put plans into place to provide instruction to students through online resources and printed materials. We will provide more details about this later this week. Free breakfast and lunch meals will continue to be provided for all students each weekday.
The health and safety of Dickinson ISD students, staff and community are a top priority, and district and campus leaders are working to ensure the community has the most current information available. Gator Nation is strong, and by working together, we can meet the academic needs of our students while keeping them safe and healthy.
