Welcome to the Dickinson Independent School District (DISD) website. This site is intended to provide parents, students, community members, and employees with information about all aspects of our school district. Because we know that education does not occur in isolation, we strive to maintain a strong partnership with parents and community members here in Gator Nation.
Located in the northern section of Galveston County, DISD serves approximately 11,000 students on 14 campuses: Dickinson High School, Dickinson Continuation Center, McAdams Junior High, Kranz Junior High, Barber Middle School, Dunbar Middle School, Lobit Middle School, Bay Colony Elementary, Calder Road Elementary, Hughes Road Elementary, K. E. Little Elementary, Lobit Elementary, San Leon Elementary, and Silbernagel Elementary.
Community support for DISD is evidenced as citizens approval of building a new elementary and middle school located off Highway 517, west of Interstate 45, in the Bay Colony area. Construction began in the fall of 2014 on the Lobit Education Village, which includes Louis G. Lobit Elementary and Elva C. Lobit Middle School. The schools opened in August 2016. In 2016, voters approved a $70 million bond to construct the district's second junior high school. Eugene "Gene" Kranz Junior High opened in August 2018.
On all campuses, the needs of a diverse student population are met through a strong, well-aligned curriculum and dedicated teachers and support personnel. We believe that the key to our success here in Gator Nation is the strength of our people who are committed to the success of all students.
Please use the information provided in this website to become familiar with our school district and campuses. We are proud of the many accomplishments of our students and staff members.
