DISD Superintendent Carla Voelkel presents the district with the 2021-2025 Strategic Plan during Convocation 2021.

Carla Voelkel has served as Superintendent in Dickinson ISD since July 2018 leading a growing district of more than 12,500 students and 2,000 employees. She joined Gator Nation in 2013 as Deputy Superintendent for Educational Services before accepting the Superintendent’s position. When Voelkel joined Dickinson ISD she was in a sense coming home after serving half of her 40-years in education in Galveston County and having lived in Dickinson for 17 years. Her experience includes many years in Texas City ISD as a high school teacher, assistant principal, principal and Director of Elementary Education as well as experience in administrative curriculum roles in Alvin ISD and Channelview ISD. 

 
Voelkel earned her bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University and her master’s degree and superintendent’s certification from the University of Houston – Clear Lake. She and her husband, Jim, have one son, two granddaughters, and one grandson.
