Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS)

This test is given to students in the state of Texas in order to monitor our students’ learning. The following grade levels take the designated exams during the spring semester. The test dates are designated by the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
• 9th Grade- Reading and Math
• 10th Grade- English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies
• *11th Grade- English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies
* The TAKS test given in 11th grade is the Exit Level TAKS. Students must pass all portions in order to graduate. Students have five opportunities to pass all portions before graduation. Students may take the exam until they pass all portions. Student will not be designated as a high school graduate until the student passes all portions of the Exit Level TAKS test.

AP Exams

AP Exams are for students who are enrolled in an AP course. These exams are published by the College Board. Registration is through the counselor’s office in March. The exams are given during the month of May. Costs and registration information is announced to students as well as published in the spring edition of the Counselor’s Corner. The Counselor’s Corner is mailed home.

College Entrance Exams

The following tests are used to measure students’ college readiness skills.

ACT - Test dates and registration online at www.actstudent.org

PSAT - Test is given one time per year (October). Students register in the counseling office. Registration information is announced and published in the fall edition of the Counselor’s Corner. The Counselor’s Corner is mailed home.
