Fifth Grade Theatre  

Basic theatre concepts/creative dramatics.   

Students will explore basic theatre concepts and develop team building and creative dramatics in the classroom.

• Basic concepts:
1. Ensemble
2. Parts of the stage
3. Improvisation
4. Pantomime
5. Character development /Creative Dramatics
• Perform main concepts in class
1. Informal performance
2. Class participation/ creative dramatics


Sixth Grade Theatre  

Beginning theatre

Students will learn basic theatre concepts and apply dramatic skills in a final class play performance.
• Introduce main concepts in theatre
• Perform each concept
1. Informal – class performance
2. Formal – prepared
3. Class participation – daily
4. Class play:
a) Ensemble play
b) All students participate in acting
c) Each class performs during school
d) ‘Best’ group performs at night

Advancing from 6th to 7th grade, theatre students must be prepared to:
1. Participate at Junior High standard of 1-3 shows per year.
2. Rehearse 2-3 days per week (working 2-4 hours per day)
3. Work in a disciplined environment with respect and cooperation
