How to Access Your Child's Scores

Your child's complete state assessment history is contained in the Texas Assessment Student Portal. Results are uploaded to this portal the day after the districts' receive scores. Step-by-step directions are available at this link.

You will need your child's six digit Unique Access Code that is located at the bottom of a previous report of STAAR scores (new STAAR Report Card or old Confidential Student Report). If your child tested in Dickinson ISD last year, you may also find the code in Skyward Family Access.

You are also able to view scores for your child in Skyward Family Access. It is not a complete historical record as is contained in the Texas Assessment Student Portal.

The Student Success Initiative

The Student Success Initiative (SSI) was created by the Texas Legislature to ensure that all students receive the instruction and support they need to be academically successful in mathematics and reading.

Under the SSI grade advancement requirements, students are required to pass the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) grade 5 mathematics and reading tests to be promoted to sixth grade. Students are required to pass the STAAR grade 8 mathematics and reading tests to be promoted to ninth grade.

Parent’s Guide to MAP Growth

MAP Growth uses a RIT scale to accurately measure what students know, regardless of their grade level. It also measures growth over time, allowing you to track your child’s progress throughout the school year and across multiple years. Once your child completes a MAP Growth test, they receive a RIT score.

The RIT scale precisely measures student performance, regardless of whether they’re performing on, above, or below grade level.

FAQ

How do schools and teachers use MAP Growth scores?

Teachers can use the score to inform instruction, personalize learning, and monitor the growth of individual students. Principals and administrators can use the scores to see the performance and progress of a grade level, school, or the entire district.

How often will my child take MAP Growth tests?

DISD will provide MAP Growth tests to students at the beginning, middle, and end of the school year (in the fall, winter, and spring).

Is MAP Growth a standardized test?

Unlike a standardized test, MAP Growth is administered periodically during the school year.  Instead of asking all students the same questions, it adjusts to each child’s performance.
