DISD implementing Stipend and Referral Incentive in search for additional bus drivers

Dickinson ISD is actively looking for several bus drivers to join Gator Nation's Transportation Department. These individuals play an important role in the lives of students as they greet students each morning and deliver them back at home at the end of the school day.

 
To help with the need for additional drivers, Dickinson ISD is implementing a Critical Shortage Stipend and a Referral Incentive to attract new drivers and encourage current Dickinson ISD bus drivers to refer qualified candidates.

Critical Shortage Stipend:
New employees hired as a bus driver will receive a critical shortage stipend of $1,200.00. In order to be eligible, the new hire must hold a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with passenger and school bus endorsements.  Payments of $100.00 will be distributed once per month for 12 months. If training is required in order to obtain a CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, the monthly payments of $100.00 will begin once all required credentials are obtained.
 
Referral Incentive:
Current DISD transportation employees who refer a bus driver (CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements) will receive $500.00. The DISD transportation employee who refers the driver will receive $200.00 after the new hire has been employed for one month and an additional $300.00 once the new hire has been employed for a total of three months. If a current DISD transportation employee refers a bus driver that requires training to obtain their CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, he/she will receive $200.00 one month after the required credentials are obtained and an additional $300.00 once the new hire has been employed for a total of three months after obtaining the required credentials.
