School lunches are free for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year
10/14/2020

Both Face-to-Face and Remote Instruction students will receive free lunches for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year, regardless of whether or not the student qualifies for the Free or Reduced Meal Program. The United States Department of Agriculture put the free lunches in place shortly after this school year started for a limited time, but recently announced it would be extended for the remainder of this school year.

Dickinson ISD already offers a free breakfast to all students regardless of free or reduced meal eligibility, so this new announcement guarantees all students will receive two free meals per day throughout the 2020-2021 school year.

The district's Food and Nutrition Services Department put a Curbside Grab and Go Meal Service in place this school year to ensure Remote Instruction students have access to the free meals. The curbside service is available from 10-11 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays at Bay Colony Elementary and Dunbar Middle School. Each student receives two breakfast meals and two lunch meals on Monday and three breakfast meals and three lunch meals on Wednesday. Meals may be picked up for any student at either curbside site. The student does not need to be present, but instead the parent must provide a Dickinson ISD student name and student ID number or birth certificate to receive the meals.
